Care For Your Cosmetic Brush Investment

All brushes require careful treatment as even a slight misuse could spoil their performance and hamper their application ability. Careful handling and cleanliness of brushes, enhances their performances and retains their quality

All your make-up brushes should be cleaned at least once a month. Brushes used to apply lipstick and concealor, require more frequent cleaning, as they are used on moisturized products. Use the DAKOTA Brush Wash to gently remove all makeup from the brush hairs. Do Not allow your brushes to soak in any brush cleaner as it will break done the adhesive bonding in the ferrule and cause hair loss. Also leaving your brushes point down in any container will cause permanent damage to the shape and quality of the hairs.

Brushes used for powder products often become sticky from skin oils, in turn moistening powder particles, and causing them to clump in the fine hair of the brush. These brushes can be washed in luke warm water with either brush shampoo or mild hair shampoo.

Make sure that you wash brushes gently, retaining the shape of the brush hair. Do not push hair into hard surface to push water out or to try to push colour out. Gently squeeze the hair while under water so the makeup can be rinsed from the hair. Follow the same procedure and rinse brushes thoroughly in clean water, ensuring that all traces of shampoo have been removed. Squeeze the hair back into its original shape and lay the brushes flat  on a clean, dry towel,  flipping at least once or twice to allow each side to air dry. A blow dryer on  a cooler setting can speed up the drying process
